Amanda Wheeler

Lead Designer and Studio Director

Amanda grew up in Arroyo Grande in a home where decorating was always a big part of family life. Her mother’s love of design sparked Amanda’s interest from an early age and eventually led her to pursue a career in interior design.

Drawn to the Pacific Northwest—perhaps by the ever-present aroma of coffee—Amanda attended Oregon StateUniversity, earning her degree in Interior Design in 2014. She began her career with a prominent Oregon-based design/build firm specializing in kitchen and bath remodels, where she spent five years contributing to award-winning projects. Although she loved Oregon, Amanda missed her roots on the Central Coast, and in 2020 she and her husband returned to California.

Amanda joined Design Collaborative shortly after returning to California, where she has expanded her experience across both residential and commercial design. Her work has included high-end homes as well as hotels, wineries, restaurants, and coffee shops, giving her the chance to work on a diverse mix of projects.

When she’s not designing, Amanda enjoys getting lost in a good book, exploring the Central Coast with her husband, and volunteering in her community. She serves on the Arroyo Grande Harvest Festival Board and is a co-chair of the annual Scarecrow Contest. She still carries her PNW love of coffee and considers Gilmore Girls her go-to comfort show.
